UNESCO Global Futures Literacy Design Forum

Futures literacy practioners from all over the world gathered for the Global Futures Literacy Design Forum held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris on December 16th-17th, 2019. The forum brought together global network of experts working on promoting futures literacy in their respective countries. Experiences of promoting futures literacy were heard from across Europe, China, India, Africa and South America.

The forum consisted of 28 parallel sessions where participants could engage in improving their capacity to use the future. The sessions were using diverse set of methods, such as using storytelling, utopias and poems as tools to expand participants’ capacity to imagine the future. Our workshop focused on discussing the role of futures literacy in secondary education.

The work of the Global Futures Literacy network continues in developing collectively processes & evaluation framework for futures literacy. We at Finland Futures Research Centre are delighted to host the next annual symposium of the global FL network in Helsinki on June 9th, 2020.
