Transforming the Future: Anticipation in the 21st Century

Futures experts around the world gathered in Paris on April 13–14th to share and discuss their experiences on transforming the way that the future is being used in their countries.The event was organized by the Head of Foresight Riel Miller from UNESCO’s Management of Social Transformations (MOST) Programme together with the ambassadors of Finland, Morocco, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Uruguay and Tunisia.

Professor Wilenius shared his vision of how the role of futures thinking should be emphasized in all levels of education and explained how we work towards this aim through his Chair in Learning Society and Futures of Education. Also other guest speakers from around the globe shared their experiences of how they are using futures thinking in education.

After the formal program the group of experts gathered for a brainstorming session to discuss the theoretical foundations and practical applications of anticipation and futures literacy with the aim finding ways for collaboration in taking global futures literacy further.

The event was organized as pre-publication event for the upcoming book Transforming the Future: Anticipation in the 21st Century edited by Riel Miller.
